R. W. Bro. Bill Bowick, D.D.G.M. 2007 - 2008

William (Bill) Bowick
was born and raised in the town of Smiths Falls in Eastern Ontario. He spent most of his adult life in Ottawa, but for the past 10 years, he and his wife, Rosemarie, have lived in Sharbot Lake.
R.W.Bro. Bowick holds degrees in Engineering Physics and Applied Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and is a past member of several technical societies. He is a Professional Engineer, a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec. He has presented at scientific conferences and has published a number of papers on technical subjects.
Most of Bill's working career was spent with Bell Northern Research (now Nortel Technologies) in Ottawa. He served as a member of Scientific Staff and as a scientific manager. At retirement, Bill was a senior manager working on management processes related to Quality Assurance and new product information.
As a volunteer, Bill has servered with Ottawa's Science Fair, on community planning projects and municipal political campaigns, and with Scouts Canada.
Bill played a leading role with the Trans Canada Trail in Ontario, and has served as a Director, President, and Executive Director of the Ontario Trails Council.
On his retirement in 2003, the Ontario Trails Council established the Bill Bowick Award to be given annually for lifetime contribution to recreational trails.
