R.W. Bro. Marvin J. Switzer, DDGM. 2009 - 2010

R.W. Bro. Marvin J. Switzer is a member of Prince of Wales Lodge No. 146 in Napanee. He lives just North East of Napanee in Newburgh, a village of 500 people with his wife Kate, son Michael and daughter Jennifer. Marvin works at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston as a Biomedical Technologist, where he repairs and maintains the many pieces of medical equipment that are used in daily patient care. He is a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists and the Canadian Medical and Biological Engineering Society.
Freemasonry has always been in his family with both his grandfather and father being masons and his mother being a member of the Eastern Star. R.W. Bro. Switzer was initiated into Freemasonry in April of 1995 and having passed through the chairs served as master in 2002 and 2007. Marvin affiliated with Daylight Lodge No. 739 in October of 2007.
Marvin has chaired various lodge and District committees and became an elected member of the management committee in 2006. As Vice President of the Masonic Association of Frontenac District in 2007-2008 he organized the Grand Junior Warden's Degree Team and was a member of the Grand Master's Reception Planning Committee.
In 2008-2009, as President of the Masonic Association of Frontenac District he enjoyed the challenge of organizing the Grand Senior Warden’s Degree team and chairing the reception committee for the visit of the Deputy Grand Master to Frontenac District.
On July 16th, 2009 his nomination was confirmed by the Grand Master M.W. Bro. Raymond S. Daniels as the Grand Master’s representative to Frontenac District.
Outside of lodge Marvin is very active in both his church and work communities. In church he leads and sings with a Praise Band, serves on various committees and leads services. At work he has been involved with and volunteered as a Member of the United Way Committee, Member and Team Captain – Hotel Dieu Hospital Food Blitz, and Organizer, Hotel Dieu Hospital Annual 5km and 10km run.
